How to share Jesus with your neighbours.

Have you ever wondered how to share your faith with your neighbours without coming across as pushy or awkward? Well, fear not because we are here to share some tips on how to talk about Jesus in a natural and friendly way.

Making Disicples

1. Start with a conversation
One of the best ways to talk about Jesus with your neighbours is to start with a casual conversation. Ask them about their interests, hobbies, or family. Share a bit about yourself and what you enjoy doing. By establishing a friendly relationship, you can build a foundation of trust and create an environment where talking about faith feels natural.

2. Listen to their story
Before you say too much, it's important to listen to your neighbour's story. Ask them about their spiritual beliefs and experiences. Show genuine interest and curiosity in their journey. By listening to their story, you can gain a better understanding of where they're coming from and how you can best share your faith with them.c

3. Share your story
Once you've established a friendly rapport, consider sharing your faith story with your neighbours. Talk about how you came to know Christ and what impact He has had on your life. Be honest and vulnerable about your struggles and how your faith has helped you overcome them. Sharing your story in a genuine and heartfelt way can be a powerful witness to the transformative power of Christ.

4. Keep it simple
When talking about Jesus with your neighbours, it's important to keep it simple. Avoid using religious jargon or theological terms that may be unfamiliar to them. Instead, focus on sharing the basic message of the Gospel in a clear and easy-to-understand way. Use personal stories and examples to illustrate your points.

5. Use prayer as a tool
Having listened to your neighbour, things will have come up that you can offer prayer for. Either a health issue or a worry. Either offering to pray for them in the moment or simply saying I’m going to be praying for that and then checking in a few weeks later on it can show them love and care. As well as the opportunity to see God at work.

6. Invite them to those social events
Don’t forget the importance of the invitation. Either to the church, to a social event or even simply to a BBQ in the garden. The invite opens them up to seeing and hearing from other Christians which hopefully will nicely surprise them with how normal they are.

7. Be respectful
Finally, it's important to be respectful when talking about Jesus with your neighbours. Remember that they may not share your beliefs, and that's okay. Avoid being pushy or confrontational. Instead, approach the conversation with humility and a desire to understand where they're coming from. Respect their beliefs, and be willing to listen and learn from them as well.

Talking about Jesus with your neighbours doesn't have to be awkward or uncomfortable. By starting with a conversation, sharing your story, listening to their story, keeping it simple, and being respectful, you can create a friendly and natural environment where talking about faith feels natural. So go ahead, take that first step, and let the love of Christ shine through you as you share your faith with those around you.
