A discipleship podcast for beginners, doubters, confused and long term established Christians. In this podcast we talk about everything related to growing in faith but in a really simple way. We are honest with our struggles, learn from some wise people and hit some brick walls… a little bit like the original disciples. Cris Rogers is a church leader in East London and has been described as a Urban Practical Theologian. wearemakingdisciples.com
This week we dive deep into the historical and theological origins of Jesus' divinity. Far from being a political invention by Constantine in 325 AD, our investigation reveals that early Christians were already declaring Jesus as divine decades before the Council of Nicaea.

228. Mirror Before Sword: The Power of Self-Reflection
"Before you use God's Word as a SWORD, use it first as a MIRROR"
In this episode, we look at the importance of seeing the Bible first as a mirror to ourselves before we use it as a sword against anyone else.
Questions for Self-Examination:
Use Scripture as your mirror, asking "How does this passage reveal areas where I need growth?"
Am I allowing God's Word to transform me, or am I merely acquiring knowledge? (Romans 12:2)
What patterns in my life need to change to align more closely with Scripture?
How am I responding to conviction from the Holy Spirit? (John 16:8)
In what areas am I resisting God's leading?
Am I being honest with myself about my spiritual condition? (Psalm 51:6)

In this episode, we explore what Christian hope looks like. Many people get stuck in a way of thinking that is more reflective of their past problems than a God filled and hope fulled future. If life has been a let down then sometimes we can behave like our tomorrow will be the same. Therefore we look at Romans 15 and the "God of hope" and how HIs hope overflows in us.

In today's episode we explore the question of "How to recover from a season of spiritual attack".
Here are 6 ways to heal your spiritual warfare wounds:
1. Find healing in His presence
Psalm 73:28 "But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds."
2. Find healing in your position
Galatians 4:7 "Abba, Father." So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir."
3. Find healing in your prayers
4. Find healing in His promises
"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." (Deuteronomy 31:8)
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
5. Pray and worship over the battlefield areas eg. your home
6. Treat yourself with extra kindness after the attack - rest, retreat and recover
